Early Passion and Beginnings
I am a stylist with over 30 years of experience in braiding and styling. Hair has been my passion since childhood. At just 11 years old, I began braiding hair professionally. What started as a hobby quickly became a lifelong career. I still laugh when I remember standing on a bench to reach clients’ hair. Sometimes I got tired and left styles unfinished, yet people always returned because they loved my unique and exquisite braids.
Growth and Entrepreneurship
Over time, I perfected my craft and trained many stylists. Today, several of them thrive in the beauty industry across Paris and the UK. My passion for hair carried me through university, where I studied Business Administration. During that time, I also managed my own salon with a team of dedicated workers who shared my vision. Eventually, I owned two salons in Delta State, Nigeria. I later expanded into the human hair extensions market and opened a kids’ toy store in Warri. In 2014, I sold my businesses and moved to Canada.
New Beginnings in Canada
Starting over in a new country was tough, but I stayed hopeful. I balanced motherhood, worked as a community support worker, and continued styling from home. This helped me keep my dream alive, opening a salon in Canada. Along the way, I pursued further education in Medical Esthetics at Blanche Macdonald Centre, one of Canada’s top beauty schools. As a licensed esthetician, I now share advanced knowledge in skin care and wellness with my community.
Present Day and Gratitude
Today, I proudly serve as the Executive Director of Citadel Salon & Spa Giftskillz Incorporated. My journey reflects resilience, passion, and faith. I’m deeply grateful for the support of my clients and community. I encourage everyone to continue supporting small businesses and Black-owned enterprises.
